We are pleased to announce that our doctoral student, Ms. Bernadetta Jankowska, has been awarded a PRELUDIUM 23 grant from the National Science Centre (NCN). Her project, titled "Crossing Boundaries: Representations of Identity, Madness, and Trauma in the Plays of Contemporary Indigenous Australian Women Playwrights", has received funding in the amount of PLN 110,844.
The aim of the project is to analyze how selected dramatic works portray themes of Aboriginal identity, madness, and trauma.
As part of her research, Ms. Jankowska focuses primarily on the representation of Aboriginal identity and madness—understood both as a form of resistance against racial and gender stereotypes, and as an expression of powerlessness or, in some cases, as a condition culturally attributed to women. A key aspect of the project is the presence of trauma: its nature—whether individual, collective, or cultural—as well as the interrelations between different forms of trauma and the consequences of traumatic experiences.
Congratulations to Ms. Bernadetta on this remarkable achievement!
