From May 20 to 23, 2025, the Centre of Contemporary Art “Znaki Czasu” will host a unique gathering of experimental, non-visual art practices. Among the main organizers of the event are our doctoral students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University – Maciej Kwietnicki and Arkadiusz "Pasożyt" Tadych – who are co-creating the Toruń edition of one of the most avant-garde biennials in the world.
The Biennale de Paris in Toruń is more than an art event – it's a living phenomenon that redefines what art can be. No exhibitions, no market, no curators – but with a real impact on the world. Inspired by Jerzy Ludwiński’s visionary idea of the "post-artistic era," artists and thinkers meet here not to create objects, but to initiate actions.
This edition, co-organized by the Centre of Contemporary Art “Znaki Czasu” and the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University, joins the global, decentralized format of the Biennale – originally launched in 1959 by André Malraux and reimagined in the 21st century by Alexandre Gurita as a platform for non-visual art. Among the organizers of the Toruń edition are also our PhD students.
The Biennale in Toruń is a four-day encounter of artistic practice and theoretical reflection – a space for shared action, thought, and sensitivity. It is accompanied by an interdisciplinary colloquium on the future of art collections.
